copied from the old autistichat.net wiki The general idea of Habit Reversal Training (HBT) is to look at habits both good and bad that you possess, those skills that come naturally and those bad habits you'd like free of. Using this information we can learn the logic of the habit, thus enabling us to teach it and use it both consciously and unconsciously. Conscious awareness and knowledge of what we are doing will also make bad habits, and even obsessive behaviours (extreme habits, really). However, we wont really know how the mind works of course, we'll just try and figure out what causes it and document it in a pseudo code, the technique is inspired by Neural Linquistic Programming. We will capture the logic, in a working model that will enable us to enable conscious awareness, and thus better modelling and control. Exactly how this is achieved I would like us to discuss together, this page is very much a work in progress.. and you are of course invited to join in (if you dont feel comfortable just editing the page without talking some first, try doing so in either the chatroom or this pages 'talk page' (meant for people to discuss their thoughts).
